Hello All,
Great news... my treatment at MD Anderson has been approved, upon appealing Health Net's initial denial, and treatment can start as soon as possible!!! We got the word late Friday afternoon and we are both elated and exhausted. Working on our appeal took a lot out of our families and ourselves, but we prevailed. It was from this effort and my stem cell doctor, Dr. Nieto, talking directly with Health Net’s medical director that got them to approve my treatment. So, now starts the healing, again!!!
So, not to provide any time for my insurance company to change their mind… my twin brother, Bobby, also known as my “spare parts”, has arrived in not so sunny Houston today to donate his stem cells for my cause over the next week and a half (i.e. see our picture, below). I am glad that he is still good looking and I am hoping (i.e. Denise, too) that his stem cells will continue to contribute to that cause and maybe help with my recovery from High Dose Chemo with a Stem Cell Transplant (HDC/SCT) (i.e. that little thing:)
So, everyone can put away their pickt signs for now. Too bad, since Health Net’s headquarters in Woodland Hills looked like pretty nice on Google Maps for protesting:)
In addition to the appeal, I would like to thank so many of you that reached out with kind words, best wishes, prayers, etc. during this frustrating time!!! Denise and I are certainly blessed!!! Many of you have been asking what you can do to help in our regard, but there is nothing that you can do at this time. Thank you!!! When our families and ourselves have time away from resolving all of our immediate needs, then we may reach out for help. Again, thank you all for ALL of your support!!!
These are trying times, but Denise and I remain vigilant in beating this disease so we can get back to enjoying better times with you all!!! That is something to live for!!!
We love you all and keep doing what you all our doing, as it’s working!!!
All Our Love, Bill and Denise
